Well, it’s been a crazy busy wedding season this spring, with lots of traveling all over, spending a lot of time in the desert. There’s so many shoots and weddings I want to share! Here’s one from a family session from some previous wedding clients of mine. I feel so grateful I get let in to such amazing times in my clients lives, where they trust me with such close, intimate moments during their lives. *Sigh* I love my job, and I think I say that every day.
I am so excited to share this session! Stacey and Matt might be one of the coolest couples I know. I knew Matt from photography school, and met Stacey a ways back from a photographer meetup. Both are super talented photographers, who recently made their move to New York. You can check out Matt’s work HERE, and Stacey’s work HERE. It’s so awesome seeing other creatives doing great things and making big moves. Stacey and Matt are totally inspiring.
I absolutely loved my visit to New York and hanging with these two! It was my first time there in the summer time, and I can’t wait to go back. We had an early morning session and walked around the West Village and ended with a cute little brunch spot, before I headed to the airport to come back to Texas. I have to say.. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard so early in the morning.. :) I laughed the entire session, and laughed the whole way through editing. I feel totally grateful I get to take photos of such awesome couples and awesome love.
And…. P.s. I totally knew these two were going to get married when they first started dating. Just Sayin’. :)
Whew, as I sit down to write up this blog post after finishing up this session’s edits, I’m overwhelmed with joy for these two that they found each other. I have to say, I absolutely loved getting to know Kathlee and Alex and their relationship a bit better after they invited me over to their home. I got to spend time with them as they made cinnamon pancakes in their pajamas, had OJ and fruit before we headed out to the lake to put our feet in the water to cool off from the summer heat. :)
This is one of my favorite sessions to date and here’s why: Kathlee and Alex really gave their trust to me inviting me over to hang out and BE with them as they were just naturally being with each other. This blog post is incredibly long because the connection I saw with them cannot be summed up in a few photos. Having fallen in love myself over the past year, I know how much I cherish the little moments, especially hanging out at home doing things together. All of this session and all the tiny moments, the laughing, the looks, the holding, the silent moments where you feel so at home with your partner and feel so connected to someone else, to me that is what life is about: your relationships with others and the love between you.
Kathlee and Alex, THANK YOU. For inviting me into your home, for being so warm and open, and just loving each other and trusting me to document your love with all those perfect beautiful moments between you two. It’s so apparent you guys are made for each other. The way you two love one another is inspiring and refreshing to be around. I can’t wait for your wedding next year in Marfa! I feel so thankful you both chose me to be your photographer. Being around your love really moved me and I’ll continue to seek the raw and beautiful moments in not only my photography but in life everywhere all the time. Thank you for sharing yourselves with me.
