Ashley and Mitch are the sweetest people! They got married out in Big Wells, TX at Ashley’s family ranch, her favorite place to be. Their family and friends were so welcoming and warm and it was such a beautiful day. They got married underneath large oak trees, had their reception in a red barn, toasted to Dublin Dr. Pepper, and made their exit with A&M and Baylor towels being waived before they got on their two-tiered jeep. I think my favorite part was the ceremony and watching Mitch’s reaction to seeing Ashley walking down the aisle. Totally made me cry. Congrats Ashley and Mitch! I’m so thankful I could be a part of your wedding day!

My clients are so rad! At today’s wedding out at the Winfield Inn in Kyle, Texas, Susan and Brad opted for pie instead of cake. They chose cherry pie, apple pie, lemon meringue, and coconut meringue all from the phenomenal Sweetish Hill Bakery. I didn’t even know I liked pie this much until tonight.

When Shanny said she had an affinity for sea creatures I knew this was such a good fit for us to work together. Shanny contacted me all the way from Maryland, where they currently live. We chatted over the phone about what she was looking for, and her plans for their wedding, exchanged PINTEREST links and I just have to say that I am so delighted they chose me as their photographer. They are getting married in Austin at the DRISKILL HOTEL in May. We met for the first time the day of their engagement session and I knew from the second they walked into my studio and she was wearing mint-colored MADEWELL jeans that this was going to be a stellar session. My clients have killer style! We started over at MALVERDE and LA CONDESA because they wanted an urban austin vibe. We then headed down to South Congress and walked around for a bit and ended up over at Butler Park for the sunset on the skyline.

So, I really think it’s important to vary your creative endeavors to keep inspiration in all areas of life going.

With that being said, here’s something a little different than the normal wedding stuff I do. Dusty Saxton is an awesome drummer and close friend for about 4 years. He’s a super motivated passionate musician who’s worked really hard to get to where he is. I see HUGE things for him in the future that he is creating for himself. He asked me to take a few shots of his drums and him playing as well as some portraits for his site. He’s got some killer endorsements by Vic Firth, Gretsch, Sabian, Gibraltar, Evans, and is currently playing with Brandon Rhyder, as well as others.

This was super fun to shoot and Part 2 of the portraits will be done soon, which I am even more stoked on. He gave me free creative range and it’s awesome when you can have an awesome connection with someone that can trust you to just do your own creative thing while they are doing theirs. ;)

Do what you love, and do it OFTEN. Live your dream and share your passion. Life is about the people you meet, and the things you create with them. :)
